Project Manager/Project Geologist TX

Position Summary:

LRE Water is growing, and we are looking for a highly motivated Hydrogeologist – Project Manager or Senior Project Manager (depending upon years’ experience) to join our growing Austin, Texas office. This individual will generally have at least 10 years of experience in groundwater services.

Compensation:: $106,000 – $135,000 depending upon years of experience.

Description of Position:

Manage Projects

  • Develop realistic budgets and schedules for projects.
  • Negotiate and present contracts to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) that minimize or mitigate contractual risk.
  • Achieve labor and operational targets.
  • Provide effective, timely written, and oral communication
  • Simultaneously manage multiple projects and clients and be able to effectively prioritize project and tasks.
  • Develop and implement plans to solve complex problems

Develop and Maintain Good Working Relationships with Clients and Staff Members

  • Maintain exceptional client satisfaction,
  • Help the client correctly understand, identify, and formulate problems (indicators are client collaboration, successful problem solving, and efficient presentation of results),
  • Lead both internal and external teams (indicators are consensus building, inspiring commitment from others, adjusting style for benefit of others, being an agent of beneficial change, and demonstrating the ability to focus on results as well as the process).
  • Make sound, technical, and strategic decisions that are aligned with LRE core values, strategic vision, and business model even in high-pressure situations and when information is incomplete.
  • Present a very high level of competence across all areas of work including technical, computer, writing, verbal, and presentation skills.
  • Possess the ability to manage projects to meet project deadlines in a way that meets or exceeds client expectations without exceeding the budget.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BS Degree in geology or hydrogeology (or related field) with 10+ years of experience in water resources and/or hydrogeology; MS Degree a plus but not required
  • Strong, all-around academic knowledge and understanding of hydrogeology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Strong MS Office skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Possess a positive, can-do attitude, be flexible and self-motivated, and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with ArcGIS, MODFLOW, AutoCAD, Python, AqteSolv, RockWorks, and/or database software a plus

Senior Project Manager Water Rights

LRE Water provides consulting services related to planning, managing, and developing water supplies at a high level of technical excellence that is also professional, ethical, and profitable.

We are currently seeking a Water Resources Senior Project Manager, with 15+ years of experience in water rights and water resource engineering. This position includes the potential for company ownership and leadership positions. This individual will be based primarily in our Denver, CO office.

Job Description:

  • Manage projects, budgets, and client relationships, and provide quality control review, for projects such as the following:
    • Technical support for Water Court applications (SWSPs, Augmentation Plans, etc.)
    • Water supply planning studies
    • Hydrologic and water rights yield investigations
    • Stream depletion analyses such as crop consumptive use, net depletions, and evaluation of potential injury to other water users
    • Water budget models for discrete systems and for river basin modeling
  • Assist clients in identifying, understanding, and solving problems
  • Coordination with attorneys, water users, administrators, objectors, and colleagues
  • Preparation of scopes of work and technical reports, including expert disclosure reports
  • Expert testimony in Water Court, including litigation support
  • Ability to foster relationships that lead to new and repeat clients

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • At least 15 years of relevant experience in Colorado water rights and water resource engineering, including a working knowledge of Colorado water rights and water administration
  • Strong technical skills, including skill in interpretation and understanding of water right decrees; administration guidelines; maps; and water supply, demand, and use data
  • Strong writing skills and verbal communication skills
  • Strong project management skills, including management of staff
  • Professional registration preferred

Total Compensation:

The starting salary range for this position is $95,000 – $178,000 annually depending upon years of experience and education. LRE also distributes bonuses and 401k contributions based on annual company profitability. LRE reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted salary range depending on experience. Employer paid benefits increase total compensation by approximately 20%. Staff Hydrogeologist II - Phoenix (Full Time)

LRE Water (LRE) is seeking a Staff Hydrogeologist II with 2-4 years experience to join our growing Phoenix Office. The Staff Hydrogeologist II will assist our project managers on a wide range of water resources projects including:

  • Water Supply and Recharge Well Design; Drilling and Well Construction Oversight
  • Aquifer Hydrologic Characterization; Aquifer testing
  • Well Assessments, Modifications, and Rehabilitations
  • Water Quality Assessments; Well Siting Studies
  • Planning and Permitting for Groundwater Recharge, Storage, and Recovery
  • Groundwater and Surface Water Modeling Support

Detailed Description:

Provide technical support to senior-level staff on a variety of water resources projects, and perform both field and office assignments, as needed.

  • Field work will include various forms of hydrologic testing; sampling surface water and groundwater; oversight of well drilling operations, borehole logging, and well installation; and coordination/oversight of subcontractors.
  • Field assignments will primarily be local to the Phoenix metro area. Some (20-30%) travel, including overnight stays, may be required. Field assignments will require ability to perform physically demanding, outdoor work in all types of weather.
  • Office work will include technical report writing and review; quality control and quality assurance and tabulation of field and laboratory data; generating boring logs and geologic cross sections; aquifer test design, implementation, and analysis; generating maps and figures; and assistance with groundwater modeling tasks. Additional opportunities for more complex and technical work will be available as staff desire and experience warrants.
  • Assist in the development of, and independently execute field work plans.
  • Work independently and within multidisciplinary teams to meet project schedules, budgets, and objectives for diverse municipal and private sector clients.
  • Communicate findings and problems to senior staff and make recommendations as appropriate.
  • Apply knowledge of geology and hydrogeology to aid development and management of groundwater resources for clients.

 Desired Skills and Experience:

  • BS Degree in geology or hydrogeology (or related field) with 0-3 years of experience in water resources and/or hydrogeological investigations; MS Degree a plus but not required
